2,000 m 2
Split concrete blockwalls, concrete floors, steel roof
This centre serves a large suburban community and is built on a sloping, beautifully wooded site with panoramic views to distant mountains.
A live stage theatre, seating 400 and a multi-purpose function centre for up to 800 people are accommodated in opposing quadrant shaped structures. The form suits the theatre plan with the floor slope following the site’s natural contours. The opposing roof slope rises to contain a limited stage fly-tower.
The function centre roof has an opposing roof slope. Its glass wall opens toward the view and the space can be subdivided into smaller sections, all served by a common kitchen. There is a minimum of public area connecting the two facilities.
